Kanye West admits he is unsure whether the word "bitch" is "acceptable" and edits his songs so he doesn't offend people.
Kanye West edits his songs so he doesn't offend people.
The 'Stronger' hitmaker admits he occasionally reviews his lyrics to ensure there is no unnecessary swearing as he prefers to use expletives as a "tool" rather than just to shock.
He tweeted: "I will admit that I sometimes go back an omit cursing from my records. I like to use profanity as a tool and not a crutch."
Kanye's admission came after a fan questioned him on the use of the word bitch.
He wrote: "Initially was offended by anyone questioning anything in my music.
"I usually never tweet questions but I struggle with this so here goes... Is the word BITCH acceptable.
"Is it acceptable for a man to call a woman a bitch even if it's endearing.(sic)"
Kanye then tweeted a link to Lupe Fiasco's new video for 'Bitch Bad' and added: "Is it ok to use bitch as long as we put BAD in front of it? Like you a BAD BITCH. (sic)"
Kanye - who has penned a track called 'Perfect Bitch' about his girlfriend Kim Kardashian - insisted his musings were not to make a definitive decision on language but he wanted to "think out loud" with his fans.
He added: "I'm not tweeting to say what we need and what we don't. I just wanted to think out loud with you guys today."
