Kanye West ‘godfather to Beyoncé baby’

Kanye West will reportedly be godfather to Jay-Z and Beyoncé Knowles' baby.

The American rapper is a good friend of the power couple, who announced their happy news during the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) at the weekend.

Kanye recently released highly-anticipated collaboration Watch the Throne with Jay-Z, and is reportedly thrilled to be first in line to help look after his friends' new arrival.

"Kanye is as excited about the baby as Beyoncé and Jay-Z," a source told British newspaper The Sun. "He's been saying he's going to be godfather and is absolutely chuffed.

"It will be a huge honour for him."

Kanye celebrated alongside Jay-Z when Beyoncé rubbed her baby bump live on stage at the Los Angeles awards show on Sunday. The 29-year-old singer earlier graced the red carpet in a flowing gown and cradled her growing tummy as she announced the news to reporters.

Beyoncé revealed she was interested in starting a family months ago.

"I always said I would have a baby at 30," she previously explained. "But I also said I was going to retire at 30."

Beyoncé and Jay-Z wed in 2008. This will be the couple's first child together.
