Wu-Tang Clan rapper RZA has said that he was grateful to be able to work with Kanye West and Jay-Z on their new album 'Watch The Throne'.
The LP is the rappers' first full-length joint collaborative effort and is released on August 8.
'Watch The Throne' was largely produced by West, but RZA became involved after being invited by the rapper to submit songs.
"These two are obviously very capable in their own right, so to include me in this classic project is a testament of how much respect we share for one another,” he told Rolling Stone.
RZA added: “I just thought I would send some shit that would be rugged. I know they can find the poppy, hip-hop places, but I wanted to send them some real edgy shit.
“Apparently they thought they were great – Kanye said, 'Send some more of that Wu sh*t!'"
As previously reported on Gigwise, West and Jay-Z have been criticised by independent record shops over the exclusive release deals in place for their upcoming album 'Watch The Throne'.
The rappers' first full-length collaborative effort will first be released on iTunes and then for two weeks through chains of Best Buy in America.
