Kanye West praised for community service

Kanye West has received a glowing review after completing his 240 hours of community service for beating up a photographer.

The hip-hop star was convicted of misdemeanour battery and sentenced to two years of probation, anger management sessions and 250 hours of community service following an incident involving paparazzo Daniel Ramos outside Los Angeles International Airport in 2013.

He completed it at Los Angeles Trade Technical College, and in court today, his lawyer Blair Berk presented a glowing letter from the dean.

"The contribution of the hands-on community service Mr. West has completed with our school has been of great benefit to our students and program," it read in part.

The dean was more than impressed with Kanye's service, telling the judge overseeing his punishment and probation he worked over and above the hours he was committed to.

According to the letter, Kanye served a total of 262 hours. During his stint at Los Angeles Trade Technical College, he gave a motivational speech to fashion students, telling them, "It's a tough world out there. You're going to prepare yourself for politics, bad bosses, hating employees, and usually when you're the absolute best, you get hated on the most."

Kanye is still on informal probation for attacking the photographer and following his sentence the rapper apologised to him.

Several months after the incident, the hip-hop star tried to explain his point of view to a group of photographers. Kanye is married to Kim Kardashian, who is expecting their second child, and while he understands photographs help with their celebrity he feels some overstep the mark.

"It's not about me being a superstar it's about me being a human being. And I really appreciate that," he spoke on a video published on TMZ.

"You guys help me at points, you help with the family, you help Kim's power and everything, so I'm not trying to f**king be at you guys in any type of negative way. I don't want you guys to be negative to me and I would prefer if we had some kind of decent relationship."
