Kanye West has scored his fourth US Number One album with his latest effort, 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy'.
The rapper clocked up around 496,000 sales of the album in its first week of release in the country, reports Music Week.
The figure means that West just falls short of the 500,000 sales he needed for the album to be certified 'gold' in its first week out.
First-week sales for the album are around 50,000 more than those in the first week for his 2008 album, '808s and Heartbreaks'. His 2005 album 'Late Registration' sold 860,000 copies in its first week and the follow-up, 2007's 'Graduation', sold 957,000.
