Kanye West addressed his outbursts against former US president George Bush and Taylor Swift at a secret gig in New York last night (November 23).
The rapper showcased his new album ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ in full at Bowery Ballroom.
Tickets for the gig - priced $100 - only went on sale hours before the show and the 500-capcity venue sold out instantly, reports Brooklyn Vegan.
Taking to the stage just after 12am, West performed songs from his new album sequentially and was joined by a number of the record’s guest stars, including Nicki Minaj, Bon Iver and Rick Ross.
The rapper spoke sparingly during the set but used his encore to discuss the recent controversy surrounding his outbursts involving Bush and Swift.
Earlier this month, Bush suggested that West’s claim in the wake of Hurricane Katrina that he “doesn’t care about black people” was one of the worst moments of his presidency.
But speaking to the audience last night, West again accused the media of overreacting over the statement.
He also conceded that his original comment “wasn’t exactly” what he wanted to say at the time. You can listen to the full video below, as well as a video of West’s performance with Minaj.
‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ was released worldwide on Monday (November 22). Check out the Gigwise review.
