Kate Hudson: `I want to allow my kids to make mistakes`

The 32-year-old actress has sons Ryder, seven, from a previous relationship and four-week-old Bingham with fiancé Matt Bellamy. She said that she thinks it is best to let children try and find their own way, which is what her own mother, Goldie Hawn, did for her.

“We’ve definitely had lots of talks about parenting and being a working mum,” she said. “She never hands out unsolicited preachy words of wisdom, though.

“My parents allowed my brother and I to have our freedom and be ourselves and feel confident in our choices and to make mistakes without too much judgment. I hope that I can do as good a job.”

And she said that in Matt Bellamy - who she met at the Coachella festival a year and a half ago - she has found someone who understands what it is like to be on the go all the time.

'I would never want to be with someone who complains and goes, 'Oh, my god, my life is so crazy,'' she said. 'If you make the best of it, it can be amazing.

'Most relationships I've had in my life have been with people who travel quite a bit for work. It is nice to be with somebody who understands having to be on the move.'
