Hudson, now a mum herself, credits her mother Goldie Hawn and father Kurt Russell for her success.
Kurt may not be her biological dad but he raised her and her brother Oliver.
While at the Elle Women in Hollywood event on Monday, the 31-year-old told Hollyscoop.com: 'My parents were pretty solid, they were good at priorities.
'I think what I learned from them was nothing was really more important to them than kids - no glitz or work could take away from the real stuff.'
The Bride Wars star, who is currently dating Muse frontman Matt Bellamy, also admitted she still goes to her mum for advice - even about her love life.
She added: 'We love talking about those things.
'That's what every girl talks about - her love, my love, and my brother's love... girls talk about love.'
