Kelly Clarkson insists it isn't her problem if people think she called Miley Cyrus a "pitchy stripper".
The 32-year-old sent waves through the Twittersphere in 2013 following the MTV Video Music Awards when she posted commentary on the evening's performances.
One of these was the infamous double whammy from Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke, which saw the blonde popstar wearing a skimpy nude latex two-piece as she danced up to the Blurred Lines hitmaker.
Many of Miley's fans were quick to defend their idol over Kelly's tweet, "Just saw a couple performances from the VMA's last night. 2 words…. #pitchystrippers (sic)", and Lady Gaga fans assumed she was the other star referred to.
But Kelly is adamant the comment wasn't referring to the younger singer.
"I never said Miley Cyrus. The fact that I tweeted 'pitchy stripper' and people said Miley Cyrus is not my problem," Kelly deadpanned during an interview on Watch What Happens Live! "I never said Miley Cyrus. Everyone else said Miley Cyrus. I'm not saying who it was."
Conversation then turned to her American Idol days, which propelled her into the limelight after she won the first ever series in 2002. Also in the competition at the time was runner-up Justin Guarini and he and Kelly briefly dated, though not during their 2003 movie From Justin to Kelly.
"We didn't date during Idol. We did date... I feel like we weren't dating through the movie [From Justin to Kelly]. We did date a little bit," Kelly, who is now a mother to little girl River Rose with her husband Brandon Blackstock.
Host Andy Cohen shared his surprise at hearing Kelly cried down the phone for over an hour when she discovered she had to make the movie due to her American Idol contract, with Andy joking he welled up when imagining a world without the rom-com musical.
