Kelly Clarkson might think she's not very good at public speaking, but her speech at the 2013 Grammy Awards proved otherwise.
When she took the stage to accept her trophy for Best Pop Vocal Album for her 2012 release, Stronger, she had the room in stitches during her candid, loose speech.
As she made her way to the stage, Clarkson showed some love to her fiancé, Brandon Blackstock, and stopped to chat with Katy Perry and John Mayer. But, it's what she said onstage that might go down as one of the most unexpected Grammy speeches in recent history. "I got stuck to Miranda Lambert. There's a story and a song. For later, after alcohol," she laughed to the room of A-listers. "I'm just kidding, children. I get nervous speaking in front of people.
"I didn't know I was going to win 'cause I literally, I was so excited to be in a category with Fun. I have been covering you all summer. I'm sorry, I love that song. I think it's so awesome. I love Pink. Everyone — Adele — that I was in a category with. Miguel, I don't know who the hell you are, but we need to sing together. I mean, good god, that was the sexiest damn thing I've ever seen. What? Anyway, thank you so much, friends, family, label, my manager, Narvel [Blackstock, Brandon's father and Kelly's manager], my fiancé, who is sexy tonight. I did not think I was going to win. Thank you!"
Kelly Clarkson puts her pipes on display at the Grammys!
Not long after she made the room LOL with her speech, Clarkson proved why she took home Grammy gold Sunday night. Her killer pipes were on full display when she performed during a tribute to Lifetime Achievement Award winners Patti Page and Carole King. She put her own diva-fied spin on their classics "The Tennessee Waltz" and "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman."
