The singer appeared on Dr Phil's talk show alongside teenagers Danny and Bonnie.
And she admitted the depths of her addiction left her ready to give up on life.
The pair - known as the 'Runaways' - have been the subject of previous episodes of the CBS programme, when they were living rough on the streets of Hollywood, Los Angeles.
Kelly, who has interviewed them before, told them on Monday: 'I know where you guys are right now, I know how it feels.
'It's not even fun for you any more.
'The only advice that I can give you is that life can be fun. I didn't think it could be fun again, I didn't even think that I could get my life back again.
'I was ready to just die and that's the truth. I wanted to give up. That was it.'
She added: 'But I got a taste, just a small little taste, of what life really was, and of how much fun I could really have and I just went with it.
'The only way you can prove how much you're really worth it is by... getting sober.'
