Kelly Osbourne's mother ordered her into a padded cell to frighten her off using drugs.
Sharon Osbourne used the technique as an attempt to help her daughter see what her life could become if she didn't stop abusing her body.
The 28-year-old star was hooked on substances as a youngster went through plenty of therapy under her parents' orders.
"I've been to rehab seven times and to two mental institutions," she told September's Cosmopolitan U.K. "My mum even had me put in a padded cell once to scare me. But like a brat I just sat it out until she said, 'Well, that's not going to work.' "
Kelly decided to clean up her act when her mother and father, Ozzy Osbourne, faced some personal battles.
She took care of X Factor UK judge Sharon a decade ago when she was battling cancer.
"When I was 18, I was set to play Lindsay Lohan's best friend in Freaky Friday. Then my mum got diagnosed with cancer," she recalled. "I was faced with the choice of a career or spending what could have been the last days of my mother's life with her."
The fashion police co-host administered prescription drugs and nursed her mother back to health.
She is grateful that the experience brought them closer together.
"I said, 'F**k you, career, hello, Mother.' I became my mum's nurse 24/7," Kelly revealed. "I gave her injections and medicines when she had seizures. I even had a parking space at the hospital with my name on it. I thought I was going to lose her – it was awful."
When her dad nearly died in a quad crash in 2003, Kelly did a similar thing.
She took on his hygiene responsibilities, brushing his teeth and wiping his bottom.
"He couldn't move from the neck down and was basically a paraplegic, so I slept on the floor by the side of his bed for four months," she confessed.
