Kelly Rowland feared for life on lost ship

Kelly Rowland feared for her life when she was lost at sea.

The 32-year-old singer was lost of the coast of Provincetown, Massachusetts on July 22 after a whale-watching excursion with friends went wrong.

Kelly was praying the vessel didn't turn over.

"I remember thinking to myself, 'Lord, please don't let this boat capsize," she told People magazine. "Please let us get to shore in one safe, sound piece. I just want to see tomorrow."

The incident unfolded when the crew helming Kelly's boat lost view of the ship that had been guiding their way.

The moments that followed were terrifying.

"[There was] no more shore, no more land, we're seeing no more of the buoys, no more of the boats passing by - it's just in the middle of nowhere, so we realised that we're lost," she recalled.

It was the middle of the afternoon and no one could get a cell phone signal. The star was finally able to reach the Coast Guard, which sent another boat operator who helped the group get to safety.

"I was like, 'Please, Lord, give me two bars.' He gave me two bars and we contacted some folks that were on land and they helped us," Kelly said.

Ten hours later, almost the next morning, the star and her friends were back on land.

It was a harrowing return to shore.

"The waves coming in were like five to 10 feet high and the boat was only a 27-foot boat and it felt like forever to get back to shore," she remembered.

Kelly has now banned getting on another boat for the foreseeable future.

The star told People it will now be a "very long time" before she sets sail.
