The 30-year-old X Factor judge is set to go on tour with Brown, who was convicted for physically assaulting his ex-girlfriend Rihanna in February 2009.
But Rowland heaps praise on the Forever singer. She tells US magazine, Runway: 'I'm going to be touring with Chris Brown… It's still in the planning process, but I'm so excited about it!
'I love Chris because he doesn't put himself in a box – whether it's dance music or hip-hop or whatever it is, he's simply an artist and I have so much respect for him.
'I feel like I've done the same thing my whole life, trying new things and not restricting myself to just one thing.'
Rowland's comments come hot on the heels of those made by Rihanna, who was physically attacked by Brown on the way home from a pre-Grammy Awards party in LA.
The S&M singer recently told US Esquire: 'I'm really excited to see the breakthrough he's had in his career. I would never wish anything horrible for him. Never. I never have.'
Rihanna also praised her ex-lover's new album FAME, saying: 'It's incredible to see how he pulled out the way he did.
'Even when the world seemed like it was against him, you know? I'm a fan of his stuff. I've always been a fan.'
