Kelly Rowland used to envy the family on The Cosby Show when she was growing up.
The former Destiny's Child singer and her mother were left alone when her father Christopher Lovett walked out on them 20 years ago.
Kelly's best friend Beyoncé Knowles' family took her in for a while after her dad left the family home. The stunning star, 30, doesn't hold any grudges.
' haven't seen my dad for almost 20 years. It's nothing I want a pity party for. He left me and my mum, and I was angry. I wanted to be a daddy's girl so bad. God damn The Cosby Show because that made me think, 'Why aren't my family like that?' But this is not a perfect world,' she told the November edition of Cosmopolitan magazine.
Kelly disliked the fact that her father had given an interview about her to a tabloid in June though. But after 20 years, she is ready to reunite with him.
'He reached out to me saying he wanted to see me, but it's unfortunate he did it so publicly. I want to meet him, and soon, I really do. I forgave him a long time ago,' she said.
Kelly also discussed her cosmetic surgery. The raven-haired beauty had breast enlargement, and says taking a decade to make the decision to go through with the surgery was the right thing to do.
' said in an interview a long time ago that I'd get it done because I just had little nuggets for boobs and it was bothering me,' she explained.
'The decision was ten years in the making so I'm comfortable talking about it. It's something I really wanted to do for myself - not for a man, not for work, for myself... and I love them.'
Kelly called off her engagement to American footballer Roy Williams in 2005. She was 24 at the time. The American songstress ' who is now single - says it was a very hard choice to make, especially in the glare of the media spotlight.
' was too young for marriage. I remember my sister B [Beyonce] asked me one question: she said, 'Well, you know what you want now, don't you?' and I was like, 'Yes,'' she explained.
't was so hard and embarrassing because everyone knew. I'd posed for the front cover of a magazine in my wedding dress and it was on sale! But sometimes you fall down and you learn from it.'
