The former Destiny's Child star says in Essence magazine’s special 'Hot Hair' issue: 'One day I'd like to cut off all my hair – really close – shaven to my head [sic]. It's such a beautiful look.'
The 30-year-old singer – who poses on the cover of the special edition of the US magazine – also reveals her love of wigs.
'I'm in love with wigs,” she says. 'I get them custom-made and I have my hairstylist shape them to my head. I can go from short to long in less than a minute!'
But the Motivation singer also admits that she has had her fair share of hair hits and misses, including burning off the sides of her hair by using heat appliances too frequently.
'I never want to apply heat every day,” she says. “I did that before, and lost all my edges.'
Rowland grew up with her childhood friend and fellow Destiny's Child bandmate Beyoncé, whose mum Tina Knowles gave her the short haircut that was to become her signature style when the group first shot to fame in the 1990s.
'I remember Tina saying, 'Baby, your face would be so pretty with a short hairstyle. Let's just try it'. I walked out of the salon like a new 16-year-old girl!” she recalls.
Like Beyoncé, Rowland used to sometimes help Knowles at her Houston-based beauty salon, Headliners, when she was a teen.
She says: 'You heard so many peoples' stories! We wrote songs off those stories.'
