Commenting on her relationships with the girls in the band, Kimberley Walsh reveals that she couldn't have coped without Cheryl and Nicola, but dismisses any rumours about rifts.
Speaking exclusively to Cosmopolitan, she said: "With Cheryl and Nicola, it's the same [type of relationship as with my oldest friends]. I don't know why we've bonded like we have, but I'd count them among my best friends. I look back at certain moments and think, 'What would I have done without them?' I wouldn't have coped."
"People look for conflict where there isn't any. In any group there will be people you are really on the same wavelength as and others where it's different. But it doesn't mean we're not friends… Nadine lives in LA now so it's inevitable you grow apart. And Sarah's just mad! She really is, and I love her for it. It can be really good to have that energy around you… I really am not competitive with any of the girls. It's been nice to have a break and do our own things."
Speaking further about her friendship with Cheryl, Kimberley is fully supportive of her current situation:
"…It's hard when any of your friends go through something upsetting. But all you can do is be as supportive as you can possibly be."
It's this encouragement and loyalty that Kimberley expects from her friends beyond the band:
"My friends have seen each other through hard times and I do expect them to flock around me if I need them, because I'd do the same for them… And there's the trust factor. When I meet new people, they will always have a preconceived idea about me. We've got so many people in and out of our lives, it's hard to make genuine friends. That's not to say I haven't made good friends since I've been in the band, but it's good to have people who know the real you."
