Reid, who famously dumped Lady Gaga from his old record label Island/Def Jam – because he reportedly didn’t “get” her music – has been accused of telling staff at his new label that he “doesn’t want anyone ugly to work there”.
Sources told the New York Post that Reid allegedly told executives at Epic Records, which is owned by Sony Music Entertainment: 'I don't want no ugly people working here; I only want good-looking people.'
Now some critics are predicting that Reid will be a 'horror show' on the US talent show.
'He'll definitely be meaner than Simon Cowell,” a source told the New York Post.
Meanwhile, a representative for US X Factor said: 'The excitement certainly continues to grow for X Factor. We love LA [Reid], and he's fantastic on camera.'
Of his 'ugly people' comment, a Reid source said: 'There is no way he said that', adding that the comment was 'completely made-up' by someone with an agenda.
A Sony rep declined to comment.
