Lana Del Rey is a "great gal" and doesn't deserve so many "haters", says a source close to the star.
The songstress has shot to fame since the release of her chart-topping Born to Die album, which features the track Video Games. Lana - real name Elizabeth Grant – has faced harsh criticism for her singing style and look since appearing on the music scene.
However, sources close to the star say the abuse is unfounded.
"She's never done a thing to hurt anyone or said a bad thing about anyone. I don't know why there are so many haters," a source told E! Online.
"She's done nothing to inspire it... she's a great gal."
Lana knows how to appreciate her supportive fans though. She took to her Twitter page recently to thank followers for their unwavering kindness.
"Thank you for making the record #1 in 11 countries," she wrote.
"Your sweet words have softened the effect of even the harshest reviews. I adore you (sic)."
Lana performed at Amoeba Music in Hollywood this week. She "thanked" the packed audience, before meeting and greeting fans for more than three hours after the show.
"They're trying to get her to hurry up," an event employee was overheard saying. "But she won't. Most artists just sign and move on."
