Following the release of Short Movie 'Director's Cut', an expanded edition of Laura Marling's critically acclaimed fifth album, 'Short Movie', today sees the unveiling of the stunning video to accompany a brand new full band re-working of popular live track 'I Feel Your Love'.
A London Forum show is also set to take place on Saturday 5 September in between a full US tour in July & August and Australian dates in October. The gigs will showcase the full band dynamic, which has inspired the Director's Cut re-worked tracks
Co-Directed by Cherise Payne and Laura Marling herself the video for 'I Feel Your Love' perfectly illustrates what Marling describes as the "alchemical change that occurs within a musical group when you add a new brain or flavor to it".
Director's Cut was inspired by the re-recording of two tracks from 'Short Movie' 'I Feel Your Love' and 'Warrior' and progressed even further the development showcased on the album. Short Movie marked a chapter in which Laura's sound and her recordings moved towards a more expansive and electric feel resulting in a much freer and looser sounding album than anything she has done before. In addition Director's Cut also features Daisy and David from the original recordings and previously only available on 7".
Marling explains the influences behind the re-recordings and the subsequent Director's Cut reissue of the album:
"The addition of new guitarist Pete's style of playing combined with a lack of need to be delicate for the sake of hearing strings led to the tone becoming thicker and grittier. And as an unexpected result, we discovered that we like sticky rhythms...and seem to speak a similar language in rhythm and tone, it's a very special quite rare thing!"
