Laura Marling releases her new single 'Gurdjieff's Daughter' on May 18th 2015 through Virgin EMI, taken from her fifth album 'Short Movie' which was her forth album to chart in the top ten.
Gurdjieff, was an influential spiritual teacher of the early to mid-20th century who taught that most humans live their lives in a state of hypnotic "waking sleep", but that it is possible to transcend to a higher state of consciousness and achieve full human potential.
The video for 'Gurdjieff's Daughter' was filmed in Laura's house in East Los Angeles and gives a glimpse into the California life. It includes cameos from the friends she met while recording the album in LA, including Rostam Batmanglij from Vampire Weekend, Jonathan Wilson, British singer/songwriter Marika Hackman and British actress Rhian Rees.
Laura has been nominated for the Mercury Prize three times; she has also been nominated for two Brit Awards (winning best female in 2011).
