LeAnn Rimes embraces her soulful side on new album Today is Christmas.
The 33-year-old singer is most famous for her work in the country music industry. However, as a huge fan of the festive season, LeAnn has ploughed everything into giving herself a new sound on her latest offering, which was released last month (Oct15).
While the Christmas tracks are vastly different from LeAnn's usual fare, the singer feels the record is very representative of the stage she has reached in her life.
"I've grown up. I think I'm just at a different point in my life with a different sound," LeAnn told Taste of Country magazine. "It's kind of a soulful, earthier kind of sound but it's also we throw it back with a bunch of horns. It's a really cool record. The last year I came out with an EP of Christmas songs and this year we decided to record a full record."
LeAnn is stepmother to husband Eddie Cibrian's two sons Mason and Jake, whose mother is Eddie's ex-wife Brandi Glanville.
With her own little family, LeAnn is more than excited about the upcoming holiday season.
But the promotional activities for Today is Christmas has made LeAnn feel like she has been celebrating the festive occasion for the past 12 months.
"I love Christmas. It's been Christmas for me all year long, which is totally fine!" LeAnn joked.
As well as a host of Christmas classics, the album features two songs that LeAnn co-wrote.
LeAnn will be further promoting the record on her Today is Christmas tour, which kicks off in Tacoma, Washington, on 4 December (15).
