The actor-and-singer has landed the role of Cinna, a fashion stylist in the movie which is based on the trilogy of novels by Suzanne Collins. Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Wes Bentley and Stanley Tucci have already been cast in the project, which is being eagerly anticipated by moviegoers.
The story is set in a dystopian 'Capitol' that forces its different districts to offer up teenagers as participants in a televised survival event. Jennifer's character Katniss Everdeen takes part, wearing outfits created by Cinna.
'When I saw Lenny's work in Precious, I was just knocked out,' director Gary Ross told The Hollywood Reporter. 't was quiet and strong and understated and open-hearted: all qualities which define this character.'
News of Lenny's part caused The Hunger Games to become a trending topic on Twitter yesterday. Film fans were quick to give their reactions to the casting, which appears to have divided people.
While one Twitter user called the casting a 'travesty', many other insisted he is perfect for the part.
The thriller is scheduled for a March 2012 release.
