In an interview with Uptown Magazine, the 47-year-old rocker, who once famously vowed to remain celibate until he remarried, says that he is 'open and waiting' for the right woman to come into his life.
The Are You Gonna Go My Way singer, who appears on the cover of the magazine’s August/September style issue showing off his rippling abs, admits that he is unattached and looking for love.
'I am single and open and waiting,' he says.
He also talks about his rebellious teenage years and reveals that his father kicked him out of his Los Angeles home for going to a Buddy Rich concert when he was younger.
'We got into this argument… and he's like, 'I'm tired of this', and he's shaking, 'Well, if you go, that's it, you're out’,” he says. 'I was like, 'I'm done, I'm out, I'm gonna go see Buddy Rich, dammit [sic]'.'
After watching the American jazz artist perform, Kravitz says he realised he couldn’t go back home and ended up sleeping on friends' couches, as well as in the back of a Ford Pinto that he rented for $4.99 a day.
The Grammy Award-winning musician also reveals that he turned down a record deal when he was still homeless because the label wanted him to join a pop group.
'I couldn't do it,' he says. 'To this day, I don't know what made me say no; I guess it was a spirit thing.
'My friends were like, 'What the f*** is wrong with you? You're living in a car and you won't sign?' But if I had said yes, I would be done. I wouldn't be here.'
