Liam Payne is reportedly keen to start penning tracks for other artists.
One Direction hunk has a mammoth year ahead of him, with the band's new tour Where We Are kicking off in April in Latin America. However, friends claim he wants to make the time for other pursuits too.
British girl group Neon Jungle say they're first on his list of people to write for and have already discussed some ideas with 20-year-old star.
"Liam Payne knew who we were and said he was listening to our song in the car," Amira McCarthy from Neon Jungle told British newspaper The Daily Star.
"He said that he'd really to write for us, so we're waiting for the song."
Calum Hood from Australian group 5 Seconds of Summer has spent some time jamming with Niall Horan and is hopeful a collaboration may be on the cards.
The group supported One Direction on tour and fans spotted Niall in the crowd of 5 Seconds of Summer's gig in London on Tuesday night.
"We found our common ground was Busted. So there's a few pop rock ideas kicking around already. We'd love to make it happen," Calum said.
"We loved playing with them," echoed Calum's bandmate Luke Hemmings.
"It was a massive opportunity for us to get our music out to a bigger audience. There's nothing to be ashamed of about playing with One Direction. But I can't say who is the biggest party animal!"
Liam and 22-year-old Louis Tomlinson are said to be the biggest earners in One Direction, as they write most of the band's songs.
For their latest album Midnight Memories, Liam and Louis joined forces and co-penned many of the tunes.
"It's a real step forward. We're really enjoying the writing process and we've recorded some of the best material ever for the next album," Liam recently confessed.
