Liam Payne has confessed that One Direction is "a mess" and need a break to take in the last five years.
The British boyband performed the last concert in its On The Road Again World Tour last night in Sheffield, England ahead of a hiatus next year (16). The group began the tour in Australia back in February(15) just as bandmate Zayn Malik decided to leave. It's been a tough few months for the remaining members, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam, and he admits it's taken a bit of a toll on them.
"Basically, we are all a mess," he told Britain's The Sunday Times Style magazine. "None of us ever gets enough sleep. It's intense, but you've got to be grateful for that. You've got to be grateful there are people screaming for you, standing outside your hotel room."
Grateful as they are, the boys shattered their fans hearts around the world when they announced they were going on a break at some point in 2016, although Liam admitted to the outlet that they still hadn't decided exactly when that would be. But one thing he was clear on was that it isn't a permanent split.
"We're not going anywhere," he insisted. "In five years we've done four tours, five albums, we've done films. I've not even watched our films, because we are always running for the next thing. I'm really conscious that all this crazy stuff has happened to us and, you know, I haven't even taken it in. "We can't ever answer questions properly because stuff hasn't sunk in. I want to just sit still and let it sink in. We just want a little break."
British newspaper The Sun reported on Saturday (31Oct15) that the band was calling it quits after relations between the singers had become strained, particularly Harry and Louis. While the band instantly refuted the claims, Irishman Niall joked to Style that the boys do naturally fall into two camps.
"We divide into two sides of a coin," he said. "The pie and pint boys and the protein-and-Pilates. Harry is protein-and-Pilates. Liam and me flit between the two and Louis is all about the Greggs."
