Lil Wayne "could have died" during his recent spate of seizures.
The rapper has a history of convulsions and recently spent time in the intensive care unit at a hospital as doctors struggled to get them under control. At the time it was reported that Wayne's life was in danger, a claim it was later insisted was overblown.
The hip-hop star has now opened up about his health scare, explaining he has been diagnosed as epileptic.
"[I'm] prone to seizures," he told Power 106's DJ Felli Fel. "This wasn't my first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh... I have had a bunch of seizures, you just never hear about them.
"But this time it got real bad 'cause I had three of them in a row and on the third one, my heart rate went down to like 30 per cent. Basically, I could've die."
Wayne explained his whole team is aware of his problem and he is surrounded by people who know what to do should he become unwell.
He spent around ten days in hospital and while he was receiving treatment there was speculation that his use of sizzurp could have contributed to the problem. The concoction includes prescription-strength cough syrup with codeine as its primary ingredient.
Wayne insists those claims are false, explaining it was "plain stress and no rest" which affected him.
He also confirmed he'll be plating 40 shows across America from July.
"I will never stop, like I'm runnin' from the cops," he laughed.
