Lily Allen "can't stomach" her own music.
The 28-year-old singer's cover of Keane's Somewhere Only We Know recently climbed to number two on the UK charts. But Lily seems flummoxed as to how she's selling records because she's irked by the sound of her own voice.
"I can't listen to the song, I've gotta be honest. It's quite shrill," Lily told Radio 1 presenter Nick Grimshaw, according to UK newspaper the Mirror.
Lily also admitted she "couldn't stomach" Smile, the debut song that propelled her to stardom in 2006.
Fortunately for the pop star, she's far more excited about material on her new album. She says revenge was a huge motive when writing the songs.
"I was in the studio and this person started being really horrible to me. This person was particularly nasty for no apparent reason. It was brilliant - it ignited this juvenile flame in my belly," Lily said.
She also thanked a "Ms Banks" for inspiring her, hinting at her feud with pop star Azealia Banks.
Azealia is not the only person outspoken Lily has alleged issues with - her new single Hard Out Here is reportedly critical of Robin Thicke's controversial Blurred Lines video.
Despite her blunt personality, Lily reveals when it comes to her daughters with Sam Cooper - Ethel, almost two, and Marnie, 11 months, family comes first.
"I want to spend as much time as possible with my kids, and if I had to go to LA I would have to leave them behind. So I try not to, I stay at home and hang up my cashmere blankets," Lily mused.
