Lily Allen has hit back at mockery claims after she dressed as Beyonce during a London performance at GAY club on Saturday night (26 April), where she mimed to her her 'Drunk In Love'.
In a statement following the event, Allen said simply: "I wasn't mocking Beyonce."
The singer played a full set at the London nightclub, which included an encore in which she dressed as Beyonce and sang a cover of Destiny's Child's 'I'm A Survivor', before performing a mime act to 'Drunk In Love'.
After various media outlets, including The Daily Mail, accused the singer of "mocking" Beyonce, she has taken to Twitter to defend the performance.
Each time I play GAY I do a cover in drag. 1st time I did Dorothy, last time Britney, thus tone Queen Bey. Why do people jump to conclusions
I wasn't mocking Beyoncé , like I wasn't dissing anyone on #SHEEZUS , this is so fucking boring .
Allen recently revealed her new single, the title track from her upcoming third album Sheezus, which includes a reference to Beyonce. The chorus features the lyrics: "RiRi isn't scared of Katy Perry's roaring, Queen B's going back to the drawing. Lorde smells blood, yeah, she's about to slay you. Kid ain't one to fuck with when she's only on her debut."
Sheezus is set for release on 2 May via Parlophone and Warner Bros.
