Returning to the Royal Festival Hall for the first time since Liza with a Z in May 1973, Liza Minnelli brings her greatest hits to London for one single performance in town on 1 March 2013 as part of Southbank Centre's The Rest Is Noise Festival.
'A living legend' (Time Out, June 2011), winner of multiple industry awards as stage and screen actress and as recording artist, Minnelli presents her unique interpretation of cabaret songs, jazz standards and Broadway tunes, including show-stopper Cabaret, from the 1972 hit film that brought her international stardom.
Liza Minnelli said: 'I'm always so excited to perform in London. I have so many friends and fans there I consider it my second home. And to be returning to the Royal Festival Hall after all this time is thrilling; I remember bringing 'Liza with a Z' there in the early 70s and having such a swell time. So I can't wait to see all you guys again!'
Liza Minnelli's only London appearance in 2013 is part of Southbank Centre's Berlin in the '20s and '30s weekend, which explores Weimar Berlin as the centre of Germany's political and artistic developments (1 – 3 March). The screening of Bob Fosse's musical Cabaret, featuring Minnelli's Academy Award winning performance as American artist Sally Bowles, will also be shown (3 March). The film is a rendition of Berlin in 1931, when the growing power of the National Socialist Party was threatening a Weimar Republic already in decline.
