Louis Tomlinson isn't "arrogant" enough to understand One Direction's fans.
The British boyband - consisting of Louis, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Harry Styles and Zayn Malik - were formed on The X Factor UK in 2010. Since then they've scored countless top ten hits, and have just announced their fourth album.
Thanks to their cute looks and catchy tunes, the stars are regularly mobbed by fans when they're out. Louis, 22, admits the hysteria can be difficult to get to grips with.
"The dedication is amazing," he marvelled to the British edition of OK! magazine.
"It's impossible to understand. You'd have to be a very arrogant person to understand it. Just the other day I was down at Doncaster Rovers [the soccer team Louis plays for and part-owns], and two people had flown from Sao Paulo to see me."
The boys finish their Where We Are Tour next month in Miami, but embark on their next one in February. It will mark the fourth time they've hit the road, and Liam, 21, adds he often balks at the crowds they perform for.
"The thing for me is, how do we know how to do this?" he shook his head.
"Most people would struggle to do a best man's speech at a wedding, and we've got three speeches to make in the middle of the show to 80,000 people."
Zayn, 21, agrees with Liam's sentiment. He's often thought of as One Direction's shyest member and finds addressing a whole stadium very daunting.
"Speaking and singing are two completely separate things!" he explained.
"I can sing and not be fazed by it. Then the minute I have to speak my brain fails me!"
