Things just continue to get better for Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. Still riding high off their #1 single "Thrift Shop" and NBA-backed tune "Wing$," the Seattle rap duo are set to perform at the 2013 mtvU Woodie Awards in Austin, Texas on March 14 during the SXSW Music festival.
"We're excited to be performing at the 'mtvU Woodies' this year. It's a great stage and lineup to be a part of and we're looking forward to seeing our fans in Austin," Macklemore said in a press release issued today.
Mack and Ryan, who are up for the Branching Out Woodie, aren't the only hip-hop acts set to take the stage during the festivities. Brooklyn MC Joey Bada$$ will also perform at the Woodies Festival on the MTV Jams stage which will showcase a number of rising rap stars throughout the day. English indie rockers Alt-J and singer/songwriter Jake Bugg will also perform at the Woodie Awards Festival on the Festival stage.
The ninth annual mtvU Woodie Awards will celebrate the indie tradition of giving a wooden record to remarkable artists who generate a passionate response to their music. Wiz Khalifa, Vampire Weekend, the Killers, MGK and Mac Miller are all past Woodie winners who have gone on to have success in music's mainstream, and this year promises to propel a new crop of stars into the spotlight. The SXSW Music Festival will serve as a backdrop for the awards show and fans can expect a number of live performances during the open-air Woodie Awards Festival, which will feature two stages.
If you can't catch the festival and award show live, the "2013 Woodie Awards Special" will air on MTV and mtvU on March 17 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
