TRIBUTES have been pouring in throughout the night for Michael Jackson, who has died at the age of 50.
Madonna, who is the same age as the King of Pop, was among the first of a growing list of musicians who paid their respects to the icon.
She said she hadn't stopped crying since she heard the news, and added: "The world has lost one of the greats, but his music will live on forever. My heart goes out to his three children and other members of his family. God bless."
Britney Spears said she had been excited about seeing him perform at London's O2 this summer.
She said: "He has been an inspiration throughout my entire life and I'm devastated he's gone."
Mariah Carey said she was "heartbroken" but said she was "blessed" to call him her friend.
She said: "My prayers go out to the Jackson family,and my heart goes out to his children.
"Let us remember him for his unparalleled contribution to the world of music,his generosity of spirit in his quest to heal the world and the joy he brought to his millions of devoted fans throughout the world.
"I feel blessed to have performed with him several times and to call him my friend. No artist will ever take his place. His star will shine forever."
And singer Usher added: "My heart goes out to the King of Pop and his family."
