Madonna is to star in forthcoming big budget children's film ‘Arthur', directed by Luc Besson.
The $80 million film is based on the children's books written by French director Besson, and will feature Madonna as the voice of Princess Selenia.
The film, set for a 2006 release, is based around Arthur, a ten-year-old boy on a mission to save his grandfather's house. Madonna's character in the computer-animated film accompanies him to a forbidden city.
"The recording is being done at the moment," a production source said to Reuters.
The film is Besson's first since 1999's ‘The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc'. A major male lead for the film will be cast shortly.
