Madonna new London date

Madonna has added an eighth London date to her world tour - and it's on her birthday.

The star, whose 'Confessions' jaunt officially kicked off in Los Angeles on May 21, will now play Wembley Arena on August 16, the day she turns 48.

Madonna opened her 'Confessions' tour on May 21 (having invited "friends and family" run through the night before) with the first of four shows at the Los Angeles Forum.

The fully staged show - contrasting with the singer's stripped down set at the Coachella Festival last month - featured a host of bondage-clad dancers and at one point included a stage set that saw Madonna hanging from a cross.

As with her Coachella appearence, the star made several politcal statements during her show, mixing images of Tony Blair and George Bush with the likes of Adolf Hitler, Osama bin Laden, and Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe, Reuters reports.

She also altered the lyrics to 'I Love New York' singing "just go to Texas and suck George Bush's dick", as she did at the Californian festival.

The singer is now set to release a special edition CD/DVD of 'I'm Going To Tell You A Secret' on June 19.

Directed by Jonas Akerlund, the behind-the-scenes documentary of 2004's Reinvention tour includes previously unreleased footage, while the CD includes 14 live tracks from the tour.
