MADONNA has spoken out about her divorce from director Guy Ritchie and said she is grateful her busy workload keeps her distracted.
In her first interview since she and Ritchie, 40, announced their split, she said although the break-up had taken its toll, being on tour had helped her cope.
Speaking to AP, the 50-year-old singer said touring the US on her "Sweet & Sticky" tour "provides a distraction that keeps me going".
She said: "I'm sad about my personal life, but I feel very blessed and very lucky that I have the opportunity to do what I do in my professional life.
"It would be horrible if I was just thinking about getting a divorce and had nothing to do. Ritchie is also staying busy filming new movie "Sherlock Holmes" in London.
Madonna, who has relocated to New York, divorced Ritchie, her husband of eight years, in London last Friday although their split will be finalised in six weeks and a day.
Their sons Rocco, 8, and David, 3, will split time between the US and London, while Lourdes, 12, whose father is Carlos Leon, will live with her mother.
The Material Girl will also keep the bulk of her estimated GBP 300 million fortune.
