Magic Numbers album details

The Magic Numbers are set to release their new album 'Those The Brokes' on November 6.

The album was produced by band members Romeo Stodart and Michele Stodart.

The record was partly recorded at New York's Alaire studios.

Michele told NME.COM that being in the States meant that the band didn't feel the pressure to follow up 2005 debut 'The Magic Numbers'.

"It was really good to get away from everything," she said "It was nice being left to our own devices without people sticking their oar in."

Percussionist and vocalist Angela Gannon said: "I think the pressure was on us to make a better record, and I think we did. If this record tanks we know that we've made a better record than our first one."

However, the recording of the album wasn't without it's perils.

"The studio got struck by lightning!" said Michele "We thought that was going to be it for us and the new album!

"Not only that but we got stuck by lightning again while we were in the States. They say three times a charm, and so if it has to happen a third time I hope it doesn't happen onstage!"

On the rumours that their second album would be more intense than their first, Romeo said: "Everyone said that our second album had to be darker, but I thought our first album was pretty dark!

"Although I do think the songs are harder edged. We're a lot more experienced with production. We wanted to make the best sounding songs we could."

The band, who've just toured the US with The Flaming Lips, Ween and Sonic Youth, are set for a big winter UK tour.
