The singer-and-actress released her first album in 1999, and made her debut on screen the following year. She is currently promoting Disney movie Rapunzel, in which she voices the title character. She was able to show off her vocal talents in the movie, which got her thinking about the possibility of taking to the stage in New York’s famous theatre district.
“I’ve always loved the idea of being on Broadway, it’s sort of the ultimate dream for me,” she told Cover Media.
Mandy is delighted with how well Tangled has gone down with audiences and critics. It is a modern take on the story of Rapunzel, who is stolen from her parents at birth and made to live in a tower.
She loves the idea of taking the movie to the stage, although she wonders whether Rapunzel’s famously long locks – which are around 70ft. in the film – would pose a problem.
“I’d have to figure out how the hair would work. That’s a lot to lug around,” she laughed. “There’d need to be some sort of trick with the hair. My neck muscles would bulge!”
Tangled is released in the UK on January 28.
