The couple announced their happy news earlier this week, following months of speculation. Mariah said she was thrilled to be expecting a baby, although she refused to say when the tot is due. The singer explained it had been a “long journey” to get pregnant, and revealed she had previously suffered a miscarriage.
Mariah appeared on her husband’s radio show Rollin’ with Nick Cannon yesterday, in which the pair discussed how the pregnancy is progressing. Nick decided to let fans experience a bit of what their married life together is like, opening up about a minor disagreement they recently had.
“I come home yesterday to help my wife get ready for her video shoots and she has these 19-inch heels on,” he explained. “So I go into the closet searching for some flats for my wife… She got a lot of damn shoes - it’s like a frickin’ Macy’s. [And] Mariah Carey does not own one pair of flat shoes.”
Mariah interjected, saying she does actually own a pair of flat boots she got in Aspen.
“Ski boots!” Nick retorted, explaining he actually managed to get her to wear them as the only other suitable footwear were some beige ballet slippers she didn’t like. “I got Mariah Carey, the high-heel queen, to put on some flats. And this is amazing. I’m going shoe shopping today, needless to say, to buy you some flat shoes.”
Mariah added pregnancy has left her feeling “nauseous and exhausted” but she is loving every second of it. She has been amazed by the outpouring of love she’s had from fans since announcing her happy news, and thanked them for wishing her well.
The 41-year-old added she is glad the news is out in the open, as she finally feels she can relax.
“We told the world what's going on yesterday, and then I did two videos. It was a relief,” she said. “Today I was, like, walking around, at least everybody, I feel like it made everyone else around me a little more relaxed. I feel like they were extra super-cautious about everything, yet not because they didn't know they were allowed to be.”
