Mariah Carey reached deep into her visual catalog for her just-released "Triumphant (Get 'Em)" video.
The boxing-themed clip features classic MC fashion looks — a body-hugging gown or two, a shimmering Vegas-ready mini and, of course, an abs-baring top with matching skirt, all in shades of gold.
The Nick Cannon-directed video follows the story of a young fighter (Meek Mill) as he enters the ring with his promoter (Rick Ross, wearing chinchilla) and his ring girl (Carey) by his side. As the two sit front row cheering him on, along with DJ Khaled (who, unlike Meek and Ross, isn't actually featured on the track), Meek attempts to take down his competition one right hook at a time.
As the video closes out, Meek is, well, triumphant over his competition, knocking out his opponent, much to the delight of his pals. In the end, the video is really all about Carey, who stands alone in the ring in her barely there skin-tight get-up, singing about overcoming adversity, while glitter falls from the ceiling.
The video was shot last month in New York City. The song is the lead single off her next studio album, due next year. It was co-produced by longtime Carey collaborator Jermaine Dupri as well as Bryan-Michael Cox and features collaborators like Mill and the Bawse himself.
"Meek adds an excitement, a newness to the record that is pretty rare right now," Carey said in a conference call with reporters earlier this month. "Working with Ross and Meek on the same record was incredible. Obviously, Ross is a star and everybody loves him. I'm a fan of his music. I really, really wanted to work with him. I love the tone of his voice. I think the contrast of his voice and mine would be something special. I always like to do collaborations that people might think are different."
