Mariah Carey gushes over ‘spectacular’ boyfriend

Mariah Carey has spoken about her new boyfriend James Packer, describing him as a "spectacular guy".

The singer was first linked to the billionaire businessman over the summer (15), and while they have stepped out in public together, Mariah has been somewhat reluctant to discuss the romance. However, in a new interview with Access Hollywood's Liz Hernandez, the 45-year-old star has gushed about the new man in her life.

"He's a great person," she said. "(I don't) like to talk about him too much (because he's) a private person.

"He's just an incredible guy. He really is a good person, and that's hard to find.

"I think anybody that's a friend of his would say the same thing, if not more, so I can't say enough nice things about him. He's just a spectacular guy."

Mariah and James made their first red carpet appearance as a couple in September (15), when they attended a Tribeca Film Institute gala. Since then, the rumour mill has gone into overdrive with speculation the pair have discussed marriage, babies and moving in together.

While settling down with James may not be on the cards just yet, Mariah does love being in a relationship with such a generous man. The star arrived at the interview with Access Hollywood wearing an impressive diamond necklace, and couldn't help expressing her delight over the gift.

"It was a surprise, she beamed. "He's given me one before, so this was like surprise number two."

Mariah is thrilled to have found happiness again following the breakdown of her marriage to presenter Nick Cannon in 2014. She has four-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe with her ex, and is thrilled to see they are already following in her superstar footsteps.

"My son has started saying, 'You're Mariah Carey,'" she said, using a star-struck baby voice to mimic her child. "It's like, 'Oh my gosh, I can't handle it.' I don't even know who taught him that. It definitely wasn't me!"
