Mariah Carey hospitalised with severe flu

Mariah Carey has reportedly been hospitalised with severe flu after falling ill on Wednesday morning (02Dec15).

Sources tell TMZ.com the singer is in a New York hospital hooked up to an intravenous drip to be pumped with fluid and vitamins to try and help her overcome the illness.

Mariah was reportedly so dehydrated in the early hours of Wednesday, her assistants had to call for emergency treatment.

The All I Want for Christmas is You singer made a personal appearance at a Pier 1 pop-up store in the Big Apple on Tuesday night (01Dec15) and allegedly started to feel unwell after she left the venue.

Mariah also has a big performance lined up at the Hot for the Holidays event, organised by rapper Busta Rhymes, in New Jersey on 5 December (15) and it's believed her team felt it better to be safe than sorry and get urgent medical help.

The mother-of-two is expected to be fine and could be released later on Wednesday, according to TMZ.

In other news, Mariah's classic Christmas song has topped the Billboard Holiday 100 chart yet again. The countdown ranks the top seasonal songs using the same formula applied to the the Billboard Hot 100, measuring sales, airplay and streaming.
All I Want for Christmas is You was first released in 1994 and this year, it topped the Holiday Digital Songs chart with 17,000 sales, (up 78 per cent, according to Nielsen Music) and Holiday Streaming Songs (3.2 million U.S. streams, up 58 per cent).
