The superstar confirmed last week that she is expecting her first child with husband Nick Cannon. Mariah is thrilled to be pregnant, after trying for many years to have a family. Although the 41-year-old can’t wait to be a mother, she admits feeling ill and tired is starting to take its toll.
Mariah has revealed she is concerned being sick could affect her vocal talents, so she is doing her best to get through the nausea.
"It's more this constant feeling of ugh,” she told USA Today. “There's always a little bit of nausea, but throwing up is bad for your voice — the reflux is terrible — so I've been trying to just keep calm, get through it."
Mariah is currently promoting her new album Merry Christmas II You. She has revealed she has been working hard on laying down her vocals and was recording “until the last minute”.
The star admits she felt anxious about appearing in public but wanted to wait a while before she confirmed she was pregnant because she had previously suffered a miscarriage.
However, Mariah knew she had to make an announcement due to the growing speculation.
“I can't remember the last time I was that nervous before an interview. I never get that way,” she explained. “But I had all this promotion coming up, and it was like, how do we keep not saying anything? Honestly, I would have much rather waited before I had a party with the world about this. But you can only keep a secret for so long; it becomes stressful."
It has been reported Mariah is expecting a boy and will give birth in March.
