Mariah Carey is really doing Christmas right this year. The songstress, who recently confirmed her long-speculated pregnancy, will host her own holiday TV special on December 13 titled "Mariah Carey: Merry Christmas to You," which will air at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
According to a press release, the show will feature Carey performing traditional holiday classics as well as cuts from her new holiday album, Merry Christmas II You, at the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles. The 41-year-old singer is serving as the program's executive producer alongside Joel Gallen.
In addition to her festive performances, the broadcast also will give fans a glimpse into some very candid footage of Mariah surprising fans and helping to make their wishes come true. The pop diva recently teamed up with ABC home-improvement show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" to surprise the latest family recipient with a revamped residence.
On Monday, Carey took to her Twitter page to talk about the upcoming special, writing, "Now that halloween is officially over — Im allowed to get excited about my new 'Merry Christmas ll you'! Available ... Tomorrow! Nov. 2nd!! And I'll be filming a Christmas special for abc on nov 6 in la — more details soon! Get festive!: )"
The ABC show is just another stop in Carey's promotional blitz for her new holiday CD, which features the cheery first single "Oh Santa!" A video for the original track will debut on "Access Hollywood Live" on Tuesday evening (November 2). A preview for the retro clip finds the songstress dressed in a Santa-inspired dress singing the upbeat tune before a clapping audience.
