A number of items connected to the blonde bombshell’s personal life are to go under the hammer in December.
They include a 1962 handwritten memo to herself to call famous American poet Carl Sandberg, a mortgage document signed by Monroe and then-husband Arthur Miller for the couple's Connecticut holiday home – which is expected to fetch up to $3,000 – and a receipt from the Los Angeles County Department of Water & Power postmarked '1 June 1962', coincidentally the Some Like It Hot star's final birthday
Also on offer will be a number of items related to Monroe's public life including five never-before-seen snapshots depicting the then-starlet performing on stage in an 'employee only' show at 20th Century Fox; a signed contract relating to the 'loan out' of the star, so that she could work on the 1956 movie Bus Stop; two personally-owned scripts from her films Something's Got To Give and Let's Make Love – the latter contains a 'pep note' to Monroe from the film's director, George Cukor (est. $1,000-$1,200).
Also included is a black and white publicity photograph from the early 1950s of Monroe that she signed for a member of the wardrobe department at 20th Century Fox, which is expected to fetch up to $5,000 at auction.
There are also a selection of letters pertaining to the controversial break-up with her business partner Milton H Greene, plus a collection of the screen legend’s receipts from 1958 through to 1962 (est. $225), among other treasures.
The auction is being held at Bonham & Butterfields in Los Angeles, on 13 December.
