Glee star, Matthew Morrison has attended Highbury Grove School to give students a music masterclass.
After holding an assembly for over 400 pupils, Matthew performed 'On The Streets Where You Live' from his new album 'Where it all Began'
which was released yesterday and also worked with students to perform a mash- up version of Elton John's 'Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters'
together.
Highbury Grove School has hit the national and international headlines this year due to it's extensive provision in music which has helped aid as a mobilisation for it's students, a large proportion of which come from situations of poverty and the issues that people in this socio-economic bracket often face. The school believes in the transformational power of music and has instilled values of team work, determination and dedication to give the students on roll chances to achieve anything they desire in life.
Recently, Andrew Lloyd Webber has recognised the achievement and power of the programme and in conjunction with the school launched the Music in Secondary Schools Trust - The Andrew Lloyd Webber Programme.
Combined with the schools other long standing benefactor - The Charles Wolfson Charitable Trust, this newly formed musical charity will embark on a social experiment to implement Highbury's dynamic and successful music programme into other schools around London that could benefit from music the same way as Highbury Grove School has.
Matthew is in London promoting his new album 'Where it All Began' which was released yesterday (June 17th 2013) He will be performing tracks from the new album at Bush Hall on Thursday 20th June.
