Michael Bublé says his grandmother was still buying him toys for Christmas when he was 18.
The Italian-Canadian crooner is a huge fan of the festive season, having released an album of his favourite Christmas songs. Michael has been recalling some of his fondest Yuletide memories and joked that his grandmother used to treat him like a young boy, even when he became an adult.
"I have a grandmother, a really sweet lady, but she just didn't get it that I turned 18 at some point. I still got G.I. Joe toys from her," he is quoted as saying by German magazine Stern.
Michael first released his festive album, titled Christmas, in 2011 and recording and promoting the record left him exhausted.
Although the album was a huge success – leading to him release an updated version this year featuring an additional track – he feels it had a negative impact on his celebrations.
"To be honest, last year was terrible. I felt like I had pushed the Christmas record too much, so that this festivity, which really means a lot to me, had become too commercial," he explained. "I couldn't enjoy it anymore, because I had talked too much about it. All those promotional events, TV shows and interviews caused me to feel burnt out.
"I think I was home by the 23rd [of December] and I was totally exhausted. I had become a bit cynical."
Michael is determined to enjoy Christmas this year.
The 37-year-old plans to spend quality time with his wife, Argentine actress-and-model Luisana Lopilato, and their family.
"This year it will be amazing! [I know that] because I am really excited already," he smiled.
Michael is adamant that loved ones come first over the holidays.
When asked if he would consider performing live on Christmas Day and miss out on festive celebrations with family, he insisted he would never agree to it.
"Nobody could ever get me there! If someone would say to me that I have to be on stage [at Christmas], I would say, 'F**k off!'" Michael vowed.
