Michael Jackson died in 2009 just days before his 51st birthday
The pop king died four years ago at the age of 50. Even though Jackson is physically gone, his spirit continues to thrive on his birthday. On August 29, he would've been 55.
His hometown of Gary, Indiana is remembering him with a block party. The ‘Celebration of Life’ festivities will span three days in front of the Jackson family’s famed address, 2300 Jackson Street Aug. 29 through 31.
Fans who are also famous remembered him today.
“Remembering Michael Jackson #KingOfPop,” tweeted Mariah Carey from her official Twitter account. The entertainer had met Michael on several occasions and shared a picture with the fans of her with him.
Justin Bieber also paid tribute. “Happy birthday MJ. #thegreatest #RIP,” tweeted Justin Bieber on Thursday. The star obviously wanted his fans to remember the man as he posted his message on Twitter.
