R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe guest edits Gwyneth Paltrow's goop e-newsletter.
In a mystifying turn, a man that Paltrow calls "a dear friend", has decided to guest-edit her lifestyle e-newsletter by reviewing New Orleans restaurants.
Spinner reports that Stipe has listed 22 of his favourite places in the city, where R.E.M. have spent time recording their fifteenth studio album.
Paltrow calls him "an obsessed foodie like the rest of us here at Goop".
Stipe wrote explanations for his culinary choices, most intriguingly about "the apex of New Orleans cool", Cochon.
Cochon is listed as bandmate Peter Buck's favourite New Orleans restaurant, but Stipe reveals that it also serves as a music mecca, with Alex Chilton, Eddie Vedder and Scissor Sisters as regular diners.
R.E.M.'s next album is reportedly due to be mixed later this year and due early 2011.
