Mos Def will join the cast of Dexter for Season 6.
The hip-hop star will appear in multiple episodes of the series playing an ex-con who finds religion but is surrounded by violence.
Tom Hanks son Colin will also star in the season, playing Dexter's nemesis Travis. Hanks has been signed for 12 episodes.
Mos Def has had a long history in acting. He was seen in '16 Blocks', 'The Italian Job' and 'Cadillac Records'.
The controversial performer has also been outspoken on political issues. He once claimed Al-Qaeda was not responsible for 9/11.
